how sustainable am i?

Having sat down and thought about the question being asked I have come to the conclusion that the lifestyle I live is not very sustainable. Now this maybe due to the fact that upholding a sustainable lifestyle is not something that is compulsory in a sense that it is not something we have to do. There is no law that says we have to do it or else. However we have all be strongly advice to do so to improve the world we live in.

Now back to why I believe my lifestyle is not very sustainable, personally speaking I do not have an active interest in what is happening around me in terms of the environment and anything that is thought to be sustainable in the world we live in.

I lived in London before I moved down here and from my surroundings and where I have been bought up I can say that recycling is not something that is done religiously. I can honestly say  that I only recycle when I remember which is hardly ever, because as far as I am concerned it is all rubbish at the end of the day. Moving on, when I moved down here (Northampton) I noticed things were different, I  realised that recycling is a major thing in the community I now live in I’ve seen 3 different recycling boxes one for glass, the others for plastic bottles  and cupboard. Along with two bins one for rubbish and the other for garden waste.

I walk to the  university but this is due to the fact that I do not drive, the bus stop is like a 15 minute walk from my house so it is quicker for me to walk through the park.

Secondly when I am at home I do not leave the gas and the electricity running continuously for no reason but this is due to the cost and not the environment.

Although I do not believe I’m not a very sustainable individual I can see that from writing this short blog the things that I am indentified that I do is playing a little positive part in the world. However as the weeks go and I learned more things my whole outlook on the issue may change.
